Confidence is Status Fluidity

From Weekly I/O#109

Real confidence is status fluidity. Truly confident people have internal comfort to be unapologetically themselves. They are at ease with both praise and critique without deflection and navigate status without chasing or avoiding it.

Article: real confidence is status fluidity

Confident people aren't afraid to be noticed. They are fluid with status. They can laugh at themselves, take a compliment, and step into the spotlight. But they don't chase attention either. They are just unapologetically themselves.

The difference between confidence and arrogance is comfort. A confident person feels safe in their own skin regardless of the situation. You can tease a confident person, and they won't bristle. They'll joke along. They can look silly and not flinch. That's why people say, "The less confident you are, the more serious you have to act."

But they also won't hide when they do something well. They are at ease with both praise and critique without deflection. They can navigate status without clinging or dodging attention.
